Down the stretch of the 2024-25 campaign, on an expiring contract, Dzanan Musa has been sidelined by Real Madrid.

Los Blancos updated his injury status on Wednesday.

Per the press release: “Following tests on our player Dzanan Musa by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a sprain in his right ankle, affecting the lateral ligament. His condition will be monitored.”

Awaiting further medical evaluation to set a recovery timeline, the team based in the Spanish capital clinched the top seed on the 2025 ACB Playoffs bracket by improving to 27-4 after taking down Rio Breogan, the previous team of Musa, on Sunday. Chus Mateo’s side has three more games remaining in the 2024-25 Regular Season of Liga Endesa before using the secured homecourt advantage throughout the postseason.

Considering recent rumors, the future of the 26-year-old Bosnian forward with Madrid is unclear, beyond the uncertainty surrounding the injury setback. During the offseason, he will become a free agent.

After being selected with the 28th overall pick of the 2018 NBA draft and playing in 54 NBA games with the Brooklyn Nets, Musa returned to Europe in 2020. A brief spell with Anadolu Efes combined with a Turkish Airlines EuroLeague championship in 2021. Moving to Breogan, he was named Most Valuable Player of the 2021-22 installment of the Liga Endesa. From the Lugo-based club, he launched his ongoing stint with Madrid in 2022 and went on to become a two-time EuroLeague champion in 2023.
