Josep Puerto inked a two-year contract extension with Valencia.
The Oranges announced the deal on Tuesday.
Per the press release: “Valencia Basket has reached an agreement with the captain of its men’s team, Spanish international forward Josep Puerto (1.99m, Almussafes, 03/08/1999, 26 years old), to extend the contractual relationship between both sides for two more seasons, until June 30, 2027. The Valencian forward is currently in his ninth season as part of the professional Taronja squad, the first as team captain, during which he is delivering his best statistical performance to date both in the Liga Endesa and in European competition.
His development has also earned him a debut with the Spanish National Team this season. He became the fourth player from the Mur dels Somnis to achieve this milestone, appearing in the EuroBasket 2025 qualifying windows. Additionally, for the first time, he has been named among the candidates at the forward position for the All-Liga Endesa Teams.”
In the 2024-25 edition of the BKT EuroCup, the youth product of Valencia averaged 7.6 points, 3.0 rebounds, 0.8 assists, 0.5 steals, and 0.3 blocks per contest over 22 appearances, including six starts. His efforts combined with reaching the Semifinals of the second-tier club continental competition of Euroleague Basketball.
In Spain’s Liga Endesa, a 22-9 record ranks third with three games left in the Regular Season. His contributions amount to 8.1 points behind 49.5% from beyond the arc and 2.9 rebounds per contest over 31 appearances.
