ABU DHABI – The 3rd place game is always a burden for the teams that are losing the Final Four semifinals, and Kendrick Nunn totally agrees.
Last night, Olympiacos guard Luca Vildoza expressed the opinion that this is “the stupidest game ever, I would rather go home,” and today, after the game, Nunn totally agreed when asked if this is the most unnecessary game in European basketball?
“Yes, It is just plain and simple”, he said without much hesitation and exlpained his position: “I mean, we’re not amateurs, we’re professionals. If you lose, you don’t play for 3rd and 4th place. We’re professional basketball players. It’s not high school, so they gotta fix that”.
His only motivation for playing and not resting was the fans, as he explained: “That’s the reason why I played simply because our fans, I prepare myself to play every night, for my team, for my fans, for my family. So simple as that, we have a game I’m playing”.
Having on the same arena both Olympiacos and Panathinaikos fans, something forbidden in most games in Greece, “is chaotic, but that’s the way it is”, said Nunn who is getting ready for the Greek league Finals: “That’s the culture here and, in Greece, and, we have to carry it, so we will see them again in the Greek league Finals. We’re gonna prepare to win that Greek League final. We carry a lot of pride, and we expect to win”.
