As they prepare for next year’s duties in the EuroLeague, returning at the highest stage of European basketball after one season in the BKT EuroCup, Valencia Basket is strengthening its roster.
The latest acquisition by Pedro Martinez’s team is the 23-year-old Spanish playmaker Alvaro Cardenas, who has spent the past few years in the NCAA at Boise State University. He has signed for two years with Valencia, staying with the club until 2027.
In his ultimate and senior season, Cardenas has put up 11.5 points, 3.1 rebounds, 6.9 assists, and 1.4 steals per game, “ranking 11th in all of NCAA Division I in the metric that measures ball-handling and the ability to create quality shot opportunities for teammates, with a Pure Point Rating of 6.4.”
¡Bienvenido, @7Alvaroct! 🧡

“This is a move made with an eye on the future. Álvaro has developed significantly during his time in the United States, emerging as a great passer in the playmaker role,” Valencia’s sports director commented.
“We believe in his potential and want to support him in taking the right steps to continue growing and reach his full potential,” Luis Arbalejo also stated.
On the other hand, Valencia Basket will say goodbye to a departing player to the NCAA. It’s the case of the promising 19-year-old shooting guard Lucas Marí.
