Over the past four seasons, it was difficult to realize that Pallacanestro Cantù wasn’t competing at the highest level of Italian basketball, considering the club’s history.

During the ’70s and the ’80s, the white-and-blue side competed at the top of European and International basketball, adding to their hardware two straight EuroLeague titles in 1981-82 and 1982-83; they also won four Korac Cups and two Intercontinental Cups in 1975 and 1982.

However, since they were relegated to the second division in the 2020-21 season, it looked like they couldn’t really return to LBA anytime soon. This season, things were different.

Sweeping Rivierabanca Basket Rimini 3-0 in the LNP Finals, they celebrated the promotion back to the top standard of Italian basketball.

Grant Basile, who debuted with the Italian national team back in November, was the team’s highest scorer with 24 points and 7 rebounds.

He was also followed by veterans such as Andrea De Nicolao (13 points and 7 assists), Riccardo Moraschini (10 points), and Tyrus McGee (11 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists).
