Kevin Durant has three preferred trade destinations: the Miami Heat, San Antonio Spurs, and Houston Rockets, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania. He is willing to sign a long-term deal with any of these teams.
Durant’s current contract for the 2025-26 season is worth $54.7 million and will expire after that. The Phoenix Suns have told teams they are open to trading him to whoever offers the best deal, even if it’s not one of Durant’s preferred teams.
Durant has been expected to be traded since talks during the February deadline. After a trade, he can sign a two-year extension worth up to $122 million starting July 6, or wait six months for a slightly bigger deal.
The 37-year-old All-Star averaged 26.6 points, 6 rebounds, and 4.2 assists this season while maintaining elite shooting numbers.
The Suns finished with a 36-46 record, despite having the highest payroll in the league. This led to changes in the front office, including a new GM and coach.
Durant was traded to Phoenix in February 2023 and holds the franchise record for highest scoring average at 26.8 points per game.
